PROMOTE AND MODEL DIGITAL ETIQUETTE AND RESPONSIBLE SOCIAL INTERACTIONS RELATED TO THE USE OF TECHNOLOGY AND INFORMATION. |
PROJECT SUMMARY
Since 2011, I have been an active part of the LinkedIn community. LinkedIn is a professional development tool which allows me to engage in conversations with professionals in my industry. Through an integrated Slideshare account, I have shared documents and presentations. My profile models online professionalism, and has allowed me to connect with over 2,200 contacts throughout the world. To educate others about the power of this community, I have developed and given over 78 presentations to students, classes, and community groups. My instruction focuses on digital literacy and using LinkedIn as a tool to evaluate professional value, network, build personal connections, and develop collaborative relationships.
PROJECT SUMMARY
Exposure to the importance of digital citizenship while in the MSEd program, made me want to encourage my students to use source material appropriately and to be aware of permissions. In 2016, scheduled a webcast through Google Hangouts with the Director of the ASUMH Library. I recorded and edited the webcast for students who could not attend. This webcast has become a staple in my writing courses. Students have commented that this source helped them to understand how to search for and use academic sources appropriately.
PROJECT SUMMARY
I create and distribute tutorials through my Blog, Twitter account, and YouTube channel. These tools allow me to create tutorials and images to share in the digital community. I have created tutorials for badges, building a customized font, and others. As a member of the community, I either purchase materials or use an attribution for source materials that falls within appropriate use for Creative Commons licenses.
